Updating your ride actually to be better than factory is not an easy task. The components you might use might be of lesser quality or even if they give you that extra edge, there are drawbacks, for example, more NVH. For example, this is the case if you want to use more rigid engine mounts.
But engine mounts are not something I'd like to mention over here. If you are a manual GTI owner, you know your clutch will fail once you start increasing the engine power. Even with a standard stage 1 COBB tune, you will begin to get clutch slip if you floor it (which happened for me).
So, I googled car clutches for Golf MK 7 GTI, and man o man, I got soo many options. Which one to pick? But if you read the reviews closely, every user will eventually mention that the pedal feel is firmer and that you'll also get some rattle at idle. Each clutch producer notes that this is normal.
I went that way and didn't like it at all. I decided to buy the clutch from the same company that produces the factory ones. They should know how to make them, I thought. I wanted my clutch to feel like stock! Is it too much to ask? Well, it didn't. It was hard as a rock. Of course, you get used to it, but once you start driving another car and get back to yours, I'd feel almost depressed.
Then, Mario from NDM decided to create a better product. And that's what he did. Imagine being able to use all of your stage 3 ponies but with also a 100% stock clutch feel? That's what he built, and that's what I got. I've been using the clutch for almost a year now and couldn't be happier.
I'll look forward to the other products NDM releases like the oil catch can! I can't wait.
Once again, thanks, Mario, for your involvement in the motorsports community!
